RURD final management meeting Akaki Tsereteli State University (ATSU), the Coordinator of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project “ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT” (RURD), hosted final management meeting on July 18-20, 2022, which was attended by the members of working group from the Batumi Art Teaching University. The meeting was also attended by the eleven participant regional universities, representatives from European partner universities from Spain, Austria, Czech Republic and Lithuania, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, City Mayor and representatives of local authorities. The aim of the project is to improve the role of regional HEIs in the development of a region. Based on the EU experience, regional universities reviewed and modernized their Mission and Strategic Development Plan, cooperation between universities and local authorities was enhanced to increase university capacity in accordance with specification of each region. In the frame of the RURD project Conference of the rectors of the regional universities was established as a committee that acts in an advisory capacity to the university management, local and state authorities, in particular with regard to issues relating to the university’s development strategy in regional context and its implementation.
RURD Project Meeting in Santiago de Compostela UNIVERSIDADE DE SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA (USC, Spain) one of the participants of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project “ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT” (RURD), hosted the meeting on March 29-31, 2022. At the meeting representatives of Regional Universities overviewed the ongoing phase of the Project, presented reports on the LLL courses and Quality Assurance of the Project Implementation, discussed ongoing and future activities, made decisions regarding the final Conference. The aim of the project is based on European experience to improve the role of regional HEI in the development of a region, to modernize Mission and Strategic Development Plan of regional Universities, increase cooperation between universities and local authorities to increase their capacity and enhance specification of each region. Regional Universities of Georgia and four European partners from Spain, Austria, Czech Republic and Lithuania are participants of the Project. Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement are also involved in the RURD Project.
March 24-25, 2022 Lectures at Kobuleti State Museum Within the frames of the LLC - the Role of the University in the Regional Development, lectures were held for the representatives of Kobuleti State Museum and library. The mentioned LLC was prepared under Erasmus + CHBE project -Role of the University in the Regional Development (RURD) Natia Nijharadze, head of the Education, Culture, Sport and Youth Service of Kobuleti City Hall, her colleague Saba Gogitidze, Sopio Motskobili, director of Kobuleti Culture Center, Marina Bejhanidze, representative from Kobuleti library, Nugzar Jhordania, chairman of the society “Our Kobuleti” and Tariel Verulidze, chairman of the Family Union attended the lecture. At the end of the lecture discussions about regional development and topical problems of the university were held.
On March 14-16, 2022, within the frame of
ERASMUS + Institutional Development Project "The Role of Universities in Regional Development-RURD", meetings of the project participants took place at Vitautas Magnas University (Kaunas, Lithuania). The representatives of the project participant universities presented recently implemented activities connected with the project. The project manager, Ermile Meskhia, professor of the Batumi Art State University gave a presentation about new LL courses and syllabuses elaborated by him under RURD project: the role of internationalization policy while planning the strategic development of the university and the role of the university’s third mission in the regional development. The LL courses are available for any interested parties. On December 15-16 , 2021, within the frame of ERASMUS+ Institutional Development Project "The Role of Universities in Regional Development-RURD", the project working group members organized a training for the BATU academic staff. During the training, they spoke about RURD project, its aims and conducted activities within the mentioned project. The training participants filled the Academic Job Satisfaction Questionnaire. Local needs analysis was conducted based on the results obtained from the survey. On December 13-14, 2021, within the frame of ERASMUS+ Institutional Development Project "The Role of Universities in Regional Development-RURD", the representatives of the Batumi Art Teaching University held a meeting with the representatives of the different institutions in the Autonomous Republic of Ajara. During the meeting, the memorandum of understanding was signed between the Batumi Art Teaching University and the following institutions: NEPL International Business Development and Investment Support Center, Tourism Product Development Agency of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Adjara A. R., Batumi State Musical Center, Travel Agency “Eurotour” and LEPL Batumi Puppet and Youth Professional State Theatre. The memorandum aims at enhancing the cooperation between the university and local governmental bodies, supporting the development of the region and assisting in educational issues. RURD Project Management Meeting in Zugdidi
Shota Meskhia State Teaching University (ZSSU) one of the beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project “ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT” (RURD), hosted the management meeting on October 18-20, 2021. At the meeting representatives of Regional Universities overviewed the first phase of the Project, presented reports on the decisions made regarding update of university Strategic Plan, on the training process provided for the local authorities in different regions of Georgia, discussed ongoing and future activities. The third meeting of the Conference of Rectors of Regional Universities that was founded in the frame of the RURD Project, took place. During the meeting rectors of regional universities discussed issues in accordance with their meeting agenda, including Funding model of the regional universities and Enhancement of LLL services among Georgian Regional Universities. The meeting was attended by Ms.Tamar Makharashvili, the director of the National Center For Educational Quality Enhancement. On September 27, an online format meeting was held within the framework of the rector s' conference of regional universities of Georgia. Regional universities rector s' conference was founded within the framework of Erasmus+ CBHE RURD project. 11 regional universities from 6 regions of Georgia are involved. The Rector of Gori State University Professor Giorgi Sosiashvili was elected as the chairman. The meeting was opened by the rector of Gori State University, professor Giorgi Sosiashvili, who greeted the participants of the meeting and talked about the importance of the rector s' conference of regional universities as a discussion and exchange of ideas. At the working meeting, representatives of Gori State University made presentations and talked about activities and reforms carried out at the university, including professor Giorgi Sosiashvili talked about the establishment of regional offices of employment, professional training and small business development at regional universities, Deputy Director of Gori Public University, Professor Alexander Mgebrishvili spoke about the university-oriented academic staff development scheme, and professor Nikoloz Akhalkatsi talked about indexing scientific magazines in international scientific bases on the example of Gori University. Participants of the event were greeted by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Professor Nunu Mitskevich, who thanked Gori State University for organizing a working meeting, talked about the importance of the regional universities rector s' conference and about the views and activities of the Ministry of Education and Science and Science of Georgia. A meeting in the frame of ERASMUS+ Institutional Development Project "The Role of Universities in Regional Development" hosted by Akaki Tsereteli State University.
On July 9, 2021, a meeting of the rectors of the regional universities took place at Akaki Tsereteli State University.
Rector of 11 Regional Universities, LEPL - Akaki Tsereteli State University, LEPL - Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, LEPL - Batumi Teaching University, LEPL - Batumi State Maritime Academy, LEPL - Gori State Teaching University, LEPL - Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, LTD - Caucasus University, LEPL - Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, LTD - Kutaisi University, LEPL - Kutaisi International University, LEPL - Shota Meskhia Zugdidi State Teaching University signed the memorandum and established the Conference of rectors of regional universities to discuss issues and challenges specific to the region they are located in.
The signing ceremony took place on July 9 and was attended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement and local authorities.

On 28-30 June, 2021, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Batumi State Maritime Academy, the beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project “ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT” (RURD), hosted the management meeting.
At the meeting representatives of Regional Universities discussed issues regarding creation of regional universities Rectors’ Conference and developed the final version of the constituent document that will be used for the establishment of the Conference. With the help of online communication, the Georgian participants got acquainted with the experience by foreign regional universities, cooperation mechanisms and forms of governmental and non-governmental bodies and set strategies for improving the quality of the involvement of governmental structures.
The project aims at carrying out joint coordinated activities about the mission, strategic plans, researches and development issues of regional universities, which will help to establish tight cooperation between the universities and governmental bodies, increase the role of the university in the region and develop strong partnership between international higher educational institutions.

On June 29, 2021, the representatives of the regional universities visited the Batumi Art State Teaching University. RURD PROJECT MANAGEMENT MEETING IN AKHALTSIKHE
Samtskhe-Javakheti State University (SJSU), one of the beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project “ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT” (RURD),hosted the management meeting on May 27-28, 2021.
At the meeting representatives of Regional Universities with active involvement of the Rectors discussed issues regarding creation of regional universities Rectors’ Conference and developed the draft version of the constituent document that will be used for the establishment of the Conference in June 2021. The conference will serve as a platform for the Rectors of Regional universities to discuss ongoing issues and challenges and to be a committee that acts in an advisory capacity to the university management, local and state authorities, in particular with regard to issues relating to the university’s development strategy in regional context and its implementation.

On March 25 and March 29-30, 2021 the third online training in strategic planning, university goals and International Cooperation Strategy was offered to the project consortium members by FH JOANNEUM (Graz, Austria) within the frame of Erasmus + CBHE project Role of Universities in the Regional Development – RURD.
The content of the training programme was focused on the issues of Internationalisation of universities, strategic planning and strategic management for regional development from a university perspective, implementation of university strategy, the university ecosystem of a regional university, and university – industry relationships.
The aim of the Erasmus + CBHE project Role of Universities in the Regional Development – RURD is to make Georgian regional HEIs more relevant to the communities and regions they are located and to serve as a basis for regional development.

On January 25-27 and February 4, 2021 the first online training in Strategic Planning and International CooperationStrategy was offered to the project consortium members by the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) within the frame of Erasmus + CBHE project Role of Universities in the Regional Development – RURD.
The content of the training programme was focused on the issues of strategic planning, university mission, vision, SWOT analysis, international cooperation and university - industry relationships. The training was equally dedicated to the theoretical part as well as practical topics.

RURD PROJECT NATIONAL CONSORTIUM MEETING
On February 17, 2020, within the framework of EU-funded ERASMUS + CBHE project – The Role of Regional Universities in the Development of the Region (RURD), a national meeting was held at Akaki Tsereteli State University with the participation of representatives of regional Georgian Universities. The participants discussed details of the project at the meeting, analyzed work packages within the project. Each university presented a SWOT analysis needed to develop a mission, vision and strategic development plan.
Dean of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences of BATU, Professor Ermile Meskhia, Head of Scientific and Publishing Department, Sopo Tavadze and Specialist of Scientific and Publishing Department, Salome Chikashua participated in the said meeting.
Four European universities are involved in the project: Santiago de Compostela (Spain), University of Graz (Austria), Masaryk University (Czech Republic), Vitaut Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania), all Georgian regional universities, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement. In cooperation with these universities, the of the national project is planned, which will increase the role of regional higher educational institutions of Georgia in the regional development.

ERASMUS+ CBHE PROJECT “ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT”
On December 9-10, 2019, the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project “ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN THE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT” (RURD) was organized in Akaki Tsereteli State University (ATSU). Representatives of the Batumi Art Teaching University, Rector Maia Tchitchileishvili, Head of Quality Assurance Office of the Faculty of Music, Khatuna Managadze and Specialist of Scientific and Publishing Department, Salome Chikashua attended the meeting. The coordinator of the project is Akaki tsereteli State University (ATSU).

On 30-31 October, 2019, the National Erasmus+ Office (NEO) Georgia organized Erasmus + Contact Seminar with the representatives of European Higher Educational Institutions at Tbilisi Iv. Javakhishvili State University. The rector of the Batumi Art State Teaching University, Ms. Maia Tchitchileishvili and specialist of Scientific and Publishing Department, Ms. Salome Chikashua attended the said seminar. They conducted informational meetings with the representatives of European universities having art programs and set perspectives of future cooperation. The goal of the mentioned seminar was finding partners for Erasmus + upcoming contest. 59 representatives from 10 countries participated in the contact seminar.
June 19, 2019, Rector of Batumi Art State University, Maia Tchitchileishvili and Specialist of Scientific and Publishing Department, Salome Chikashua attended the seminar organized by the National Erasmus + Office Georgia. The seminar was informational and referred to program priorities, possibilities for international cooperation, advantages and innovations
On September 18-23, 2017, within the frames of the said Erasmus + ICM bilateral agreement between the LCC of LAC and BATU, associated professor of BATU, Sopio Tavadze and Diana Talakvadze visited the Latvian College of Culture and gave lectures for Latvian students. Sopio Tavadze delivered a course on Product Placement in cinematography as marketing PR instrument and Diana Talakvadze organized workshops about Artistic Modeling of Clothes. It must be mentioned that the said Erasmus + staff mobility project is the 1st project for BATU.

On November 16, 2017, E. Meskhia and S. Tavadze, program leaders of culture management and culture tourism educational programs of BATU met professor of Edite Neimane. The sides discussed the involvement of academic staff of both institutions in the project. Professor Edite introduced structure to educational programs of LCC, evaluation system and teaching methods to Georgian colleagues. Georgian program leaders introduced culture management and culture tourism educational programs to Latvian professor.
The sides expressed their readiness for active cooperation and sharing experience
On April 19, 2017, Erasmus + ICM bilateral agreement was signed between the Latvian College of Culture of Latvian Academy of Culture, which includes staff mobility in the field of higher education. Within the frames of the said project financed by the EU, professor of Latvian College of Culture, Edite Neimane held master classes on Improvisation, Art of Theatre on November 14-15-16 for BATU students. Professor Edite introduced some elements of mastery to the students according to Chekhov’s methods. The students did some emotional and plastic workouts.
